The Shot “Herd” Round the World

As told by Josh Troy

February 7, 1985 – On this day Marshall University’s Bruce Morris landed the longest shot in NCAA basketball history with an 89-plus footer against Appalachian State.  The shot came at the last second of the first half.  Marshall’s Thundering Herd went on to win, 93-82.

To commemorate the feat, Bruce’s footprints have been permanently painted in the hallowed spot from where he launched the shot.
