July 25, 1965 – In the previous 2 years, Bob Dylan was the crowd favorite at the Newport Folk Festival, but on this day he heard some boos as members of hippy-dippy audience didn’t approve of his switch to an electric guitar.  Many point to this moment as the coming out party for folk rock.
