January 25, 1963 - This was the day that Captain Wilson Kettle finally kicked the bucket at age 102. According to the 1964 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records, Wilson had the most living descendants.
Wilson was a fisherman who lived his whole life in Grand Bay, Newfoundland. He was a mariner and an active diver into his eighties.
During his long and productive life he fathered 13 children with two wives. He had 65 grandchildren, 201 great-grandchildren and 305 great-great-grandchildren. Two of his progeny died leaving him with a grand total of 582 living descendants.
