Dead Man's Curve

Dead Man's Curve

April 12, 1966 - Today was the day Jan Berry (of the surf-rock duo, Jan and Dean) slammed his Corvette Stingray into the  back of a parked truck in Beverly Hills. The accident was eerily reminiscent of Berry's top 10 hit from 1964, Dead Man's Curve.

The wreck nearly killed Berry. He suffered severe brain damage and partial paralysis on his right side, so it looked like his performing days were over. Berry battled back and within a year of the accident he returned to the studio as a producer. It would be many years before he reunited onstage with Dean Torrence, but the duo did return to touring in the 80s and 90s. The ride officially ended with Berry's death in 2004.

Check out the video below with the final 7 minutes of the 1978 TV movie about Jan and Dean. If you look closely at the beginning of the clip, you'll see the real Jan Berry in the crowd clapping.
