Death on the Dance Floor

May 24, 2001 - The worst civil disaster in Israel's history happened on this day. A crowded dance floor at a wedding celebration collapsed and pancaked through 3 floors of a poorly constructed building. 23 people died and 380 were injured.

The disaster was caught on tape and the startling footage helped convict the building's owners and engineers of causing death by negligence.

On May 24, 2001 A wedding celebration met with tragedy as a large portion of the third floor they were dancing on collapsed. 23 people fell to their deaths through two stories, including the groom's 80-year-old grandfather and his three-year-old second cousin.
