Beavers Stash Money from Casino Heist

Beavers Stash Money from Casino Heist

November 16, 2004 - The Lucky Dollar Casino in Greensburg, Louisiana was the target of heist. Thieves made off with between $70,000 and $75,000 in cash, which they dumped in a creek during their getaway

Deputies quickly recovered one bag of bills, but the search for the rest of the loot led to a nearby beaver dam. Turns out the beavers had quickly seized the money and put it to work as insulation inside their dam. Thousands of dollars had been carefully woven into the sticks and brush to reinforce the structure.

Only $40,000 of the missing cash was recovered.
