Feodor II
June 20, 1605 - Today was the day that the 16-year-old tsar of Russia was murdered, along with his mother.
Feodor II had only been on the job for 3 months following the death of his father, Boris Gudonov. The young tsar was strangled in his apartment, after a brutal struggle with at least four assassins. The men who killed him were supporters of his successor, False Dmitriy I, one of three imposters who claimed to be the son of Ivan the Terrible.
The fake Dmitriy would not last a year as tsar, and he too would meet a gruesome fate. Surrounded by conspirators at the Kremlin, he jumped through a window and broke his leg. He was shot dead as he tried to crawl away. He was eventually cremated and his ashes were shot from a cannon toward Poland.
