April 1, 1957 - This was the day the BBC pulled off one of the greatest April Fools' hoaxes of all time. It aired a 3-minute video on one of its news programs about a Swiss family harvesting spaghetti from trees.

Since spaghetti was not a common dish in 1950's England, many viewers fell for the joke and wanted to know where they could get their hands on these pasta-generating trees.
